Edwards and Obama LIE about not taking money from lobbyists
Obama claims at the Nevada debate: “I don’t take money from federal lobbyists…” when in fact all 3 democratic candidates take money from lobbyists

Rudolph W. Giuliani: $212,100

Barack Obama: $76,859

Dennis Kucinich: $0

By the way, some of the people who dropped out took money too, but I cut the list down for ease of use. One could argue that Kucinch or Hunter really aren’t in the race anymore, but they’re still polling in some places. Paul is definitely still pulling support, but not a ton.

However, Mike Gravel and Alan Keyes do not make the list because they weren’t serious in the first place. Sorry guys. Better luck next time.

    Barack Obama does not take money from “federal” lobbyists. There are other lobbyists for groups that he supports (and that subsequently support him) such as teachers and culinary workers unions. Here is an excerpt from page 116 of his book, “The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream”:

    “I’ve never been entirely comfortable with the term “special interests,” which lumps together Exxon Mobil and bricklayers, the pharmaceutical lobby and parents of special-ed kids. Most political scientists would probably disagree with me, but to my mind, there’s a difference between a corporate lobby whose clout is based on money alone, and a group of like-minded individuals - whether they be textile workers, gun aficianoados, veterans, or family farmers - coming together to promote their interests, between those who use their economic power to magnify their political influence far beyond what their numbers might justify, and those who are simply seeking to pool their votes to sway their representatives. The former subvert the very idea of democracy. The latter are its essence.”

    Paul would do well to get in touch with the voice of the majority of America and find out what exactly we want. Last I checked, going back to a gold standard and eliminating a federal income tax are not at the top of most people’s lists.
