U.S. Congress Election in March has a Ron Paul candidate?
By inDglass | February 1, 2008
Sean Shepard, candidate for U.S. Congress, is a member of the Libertarian Party and our local Ron Paul Meetup, Ron Paul ‘08 for Indy-pendence. He is running to fill the vacancy in the House of Representatives left by the late Julia Carson. He will battle Carson’s grandson Andre Carson and Jon Elrod, a mainstream Republican and a Scottish Rite Freemason.
Shepard recently wrote an article, US Economy on the Brink, which describes concerns we all share for the U.S. economy. He embraces the CIA’s term “blowback” in his discussion of foreign policy. He would co-sponsor Rep. John Linder’s HR 25, The FairTax Act.
Shepard’s web site is www.shepard2008.com. The election date is March 11th. We have until February 11th to register new voters and raise the funds for a successful campaign. I’ll be canvassing for Sean Shepard as well as Ron Paul. I hope you will give him your support too.

FairTax sucks, FairTax assumes we still need to continue taxing citizens…true libertarians should wake up and see that is oppressive and not support it.

I agree, and I’ll be sure to question him about it and bring up some of Ron’s points on the issue. I still think the FairTax is an improvement upon the current system, which is a disgusting violation of our 5th amendment rights and pulls money right out of our paychecks. If Elrod or Carson get this seat, i guarantee they will do nothing about the federal income tax problem.

I support completely eliminating the Income Tax and replacing it with nothing, same as Dr. Paul; however, as an interim step I believe moving to a consumption tax and ditching the IRS would absolutely be better than what we have now thus my support for advancing the FairTax agenda pending other options. At least under The FairTax we have choices, no oppressive IRS and there are 60 co-sponsors already.
Long-term though - cut the spending, kill the taxes.
Thanks!
Sean Shepard, Candidate
U.S. House of Representatives
Indiana 7th District

Sean …
I agree on both points. The fair tax *is* better than what we have now. Even if the amount of money collected by the tax is the same, which is how it’s proponents designed it, the cost of collecting it (since only businesses would have to file paperwork), the cost of enforcing it (since only businesses would be subject to audit), and the cost of trying to evade it (since there would not be thousands of pages of it, spawning an industry of “experts”) would be much lower.

Republicans who know Elord’s stand on the issues call him:

The local NBC station is leaving Shepard out of their February 24th televised debate. http://www.wthr.com/Global/sto.....nu188_2_10
They didn’t even contact the campaign about it, and had the nerve to write “The two major party candidates in the March special election will face each other on live television on February 24th.”
Email 13news@wthr.com or call (317) 636-1313 to protest.
